Our Lenses

Single Vision

Single vision lenses have one single power over the entire surface of the lens. They are suitable for distance, e.g. driving, watching TV and also for reading or using the computer.

Varifocal Lenses

Varifocal Lenses are ideal for all distances and provide a gradual progression of power on the lens correcting near, distance and intermediate vision without the need of separate pairs of glasses. As there are no visible lines on the lens they are cosmetically more attractive to wear. It may take 2-4 weeks to get used to your varifocals especially if you haven't worn them before.

Bifocal Lenses

Bifocal lenses contain two different prescriptions in the same lens and have a visible dividing line separating the two prescriptions. The upper part is used for seeing at a distance, such as driving and watching TV and the lower part is used for reading.

Polycarbonate Lenses

Polycarbonate lenses are shatterproof and have a built in Scratch Resistant coating. They are thinner and lighter compared to regular plastic lens material and offer 100% protection from the suns harmful light. Polycarbonate lenses are recommended for children, individuals with an active lifestyle and safety glasses.

Tinted Lenses

Tinted lenses are available for customers looking to convert their glasses into prescription sunglasses. A full range of colours are available from standard brown, grey and green to pink and yellow. We can provide customers with a full or graduated tint in indexes 1.5, 1.6, 1.67 and 1.74. A member of staff will be more than happy to discuss your requirements and demonstrate all colour options available.

Polarised Lenses

Polarised lenses filter glare that would normally enter your eyes after bouncing off flat surfaces like water, a road or metal. The laminated film is added to the lens to absorb horizontal light rays, while still allowing vertical waves to pass through. All water-sport athletes, golfers, cyclists and runners can all benefit from using sunglasses with polarised lenses. Polarised lenses help an individual obtain accurate information about texture and depth of an object which can reduce fatigue through eyestrain. Polarised lenses can be ordered for both non-prescription and prescription frames.

Transition Lenses

Transition lenses are clear lenses that adapt to changing light conditions. They are clear lenses indoors and at night but when they are exposed to UV light they quickly change and turn dark.

They block 100% of UVA and UVB rays, reduce glare and prevent eye fatigue.

Coloroid Lenses

Coloroid lenses align scattered light, dampen flicker, reduce eyestrain, and deflect EMI radiation. It is thought that they help the visual system process information, which has been shown to alleviate symptoms in many dyslexia and migraine sufferers. Focus on Broadway is one of only a handful of practices that are able to supply Coloroid lenses, following a consultation with our Neuro-Optometrist.

Our Coatings

Scratch Resistant Coating

A coating will extend the life of your lenses because it reduces scratches that occur from general wear and tear.

Make sure to keep your glasses in a case when not in use and clean the lenses with a recommended microfiber cloth and solution.

Multi Anti-Reflective Coating

Applying an anti-reflective coating will improve your vision and enhance the appearance of your lenses. It will provide better vision for night driving as it will eliminate reflective glare. MAR coating will also eliminate the glare and discomfort from long hours spent on the computer and is highly recommended for all eyeglass lenses.
