EYE EXAMINATIONS

What to expect

Eye Examinations For Adults And Children

Regular eye examinations are important for vision and healthcare and can help identify conditions such as glaucoma and heart conditions at an early stage, allowing them to be effectively treated. Sight tests are usually carried out every two years, although for children or some eye conditions more frequent examinations may be advised. In children it is essential to diagnose sight problems early to prevent learning and development problems.

OCT Scans available now at Focus!

An OCT scan is an additional, advanced eye examination service. It costs only £25 for a full scan and results are given by a highly trained and qualified optometrist.

Your eyes will be scanned using the OCT machine which produces 3D imagery of what goes on beneath the surface.
Data from the test will be saved to your file and any subsequent scans will automatically compare previous results, making it easy to see any concerning changes in your eye health or vision

What Is Fundus Photography

Fundus photography is a test that produces highly detailed images of the retina at the back of the eye. This test allows the optometrist to accurately detect early signs of macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, detached retinas and many other eye disorders. The examination has no direct contact with the eye and only takes a few minutes to complete. We highly recommend fundus photography to all of our customers, as it is an excellent way to check the health of your eyes and to monitor any change.

Personalised Eye Tests and Photography

Our qualified optometrists will take a comprehensive medical history and details of any symptoms you may have. This is important as some eye problems are closely related to health, lifestyle and hereditary factors. We will want to know your occupation, whether you use a computer, your hobbies, your interests and whether you drive. If you already wear glasses or contact lenses please remember to bring them with you and also your details of medication that you may be taking or have recently taken.

During the eye test we will use a wide range of techniques to check your level of vision and the health of your eyes. If you wear contact lenses you will require contact lens aftercare check-ups. These appointments are different from eye examinations and will require a separate appointment.
